Create a comparison of the nutritional needs for different types of athletes based on the recommendations of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) {Nutrition and Athletic Performance}, the International Society of Sports Nutritition (ISSN) (Nutrient Timing}, and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) {Safe Weight Loss & Maintenance}.Each of these organizations have position statements/stands [review articles] which provide their members with the organizations recommended nutritional guidelines based on current research. Any member of any of these organizations is required to abide by these recommendations when providing nutritional guidance to physically active individuals.Based on the information from these documents, a detailed overview of the nutritional needs of athletes within each of the following categories should be described: ultra-endurance/endurance (triathletes, swimmers, runners, cyclist, etc), strength/power (field event athletes, Sprinters, power lifters, etc), and intermittent activities (soccer, basketball, football, etc).Specifically the document should discuss the types of energy systems commonly used for each category of sport, necessary macronutrients and hydration status, pre-exercise nutrition (pre-meal), nutrition during activity, and post-exercise nutrition (recovery). Also discuss other important considerations, including but not limited to: adjustments that should be made based on gender, side effects of unhealthy eating practices/dieting (dehydration, disordered eating, etc), dietary restriction/weight loss (related to weight restricted sport- wrestling, boxing, figure skating, martial arts, and/or gymnastics), and vegetarian diets.Following the comparison, provide a detailed overview (background, requirements, restrictions, purported benefits) of three common diets that are often adopted by athletes (The Zone Diet, Paleo Diet, and Eat Clean Diet).Relate each diet with possible advantages and disadvantages for the previously discussed categories of athletes. The nutritional needs comparison should be based on the position statements, textbook information, and a minimum of four additional articles from a peer reviewed journal or reputable website (such as GSSI or other nutrition based website).Research articles should focus on any topics that need additional support or may have had dated references (over 10 years old). When incorporating research articles into the document APA format should be used [meaning all unoriginal thoughts taking from another author must be cited]. Click here for help with APA format. NOTE: This is not a research paper but should include research to support the various topics discussed. The document should be a minimum of 6 pages (not including the title and reference pages), times new roman format, Double spaced, size 12 font, and 1 inch margins.
