Your boss is having lunch at the restaurant across the street. A client calls with an important message for your boss that should be delivered in person, so you need to run to the restaurant to deliver that message to your boss. After you provide the message, you leave the restaurant and head back to the office.

You had no intention of patronizing the restaurant and you were not given specific permission to enter. You ordered no food or drink while you were there. What was your legal status – an invitee, licensee, trespasser or something else? Explain the reason for your answer.

If, before you left the restaurant, you snuck some food off your boss’s plate, would that change your answer? Why or why not?
