Choose two stories and write  a five-page essay on a topic of your choice.  Must use at least two academic references and use MLA Format for references in text (Author Page) and include a bibliography.  See MLA guidelines: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/
You can consult with your professor if you are not sure about whether a topic would work or not.
Possible Topics: Woman’s rights, revolution, author’s literary innovations, author’s interaction with and use of foreign or classical Chinese literature, Colonialism and China, religion and literature, translation issues, relationship between the texts of two different authors, moral burden in Chinese literature, etc.
The paper should include basic ingredients for writing an essay:
Introduction:
Broader issue that draws reader into your topic
Introduce the story or stories you are writing about and connect them to your topic
Lead up to your specific thesis about your topic and choice of story
Body:
general background of author and story
evidence supporting your argument
discussion of any possible opposing views
your refutation of opposing views
final evidence for your thesis
Conclusion:
Restatement of thesis
Broader implications of your topic or thesis
Format Requirements:
Proofread for spelling and grammar errors
